The virus was contracted within the family circle in twelve cases (56.5% of the total), at work in one case (4.3%), and abroad in eight cases (34.8%). The origin of the infection remains unknown in one case (4.3%). Cases were registered in six counties (Harju County, Ida-Viru County, Järva County, Lääne County, Pärnu County, and Tartu County). Taking into consideration the decelerating pace of the spread of the infection (0.1±0.01%), the high number of tests each week (1.8 tests per 1,000 people), and the low percentage of positive results (0.2%), it may be stated that there is no concealed spread in Estonia.
Of those patients who required hospital treatment as of 20 July 2020, a total of 379 patients (86.3%) have been discharged for further treatment at home, four (0.9%) remain hospitalised, and one was on a ventilator during this period. A total of 1,439 individuals (71.2% of the total number of cases) have recovered and, in the case of 471 individuals, over 28 days have passed since they tested positive.
As of 20 July 2020, the number of cases which have been confirmed by laboratory test is 2,021. The number of cases per 100,000 people is 152.5, and 8.7% of the population of Estonia have been tested. Registered COVID-19 cases which have been brought in from abroad form 8.0% of the total number of cases which have been confirmed in a laboratory.
Even though the number of infection cases is showing a declining trend, the risk has not disappeared, and people should be especially careful when travelling. We would like to remind everyone to apply the usual hand hygiene measures and to stay at home if you show any signs of having contracted the disease (such as rhinitis, a cough, or a fever).
