COVID-19 blog, 3 August: 225 new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 5,788 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 225 (3.9%) of the initial tests were positive. In total, 171 of the new cases were unvaccinated (amounting to 76.0% of all new cases). Fifteen of those individuals who were infected had received only one shot of the vaccine, while thirty-nine infected individuals (amounting to 17.3% of the overall figure) had completed the vaccination process. A full 5,924 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 644,957 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 566,692 individuals have now received both doses. A total of 57.9% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where ninety-five further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of seventy of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further thirty-four new positive coronavirus test results were added from Tartu County, twenty-seven from Pärnu County, fifteen from Viljandi County, and twelve each from Võru County and Rapla County. Another seven new cases were added from Põlva County, and four each from Lääne County and Ida-Viru County. Three new cases were also added from Lääne-Viru County, two each from Saare County and Valga County, and one each from Hiiu County, Jõgeva County, and Järva County. On five occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 152.0, and 4.8% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Six new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and forty-seven patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 3 August, hospital treatment is being supplied to forty-seven patients who have COVID-19. Two patients require intensive care, and one patient has been placed on a ventilator. Six of those patients who are being treated in hospital are fully vaccinated (including five individuals who are being treated for symptomatic COVID-19).

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is sixty-five. All told, thirty-two of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (68.1% of the overall figure).

An 86 year-old woman who had been infected with coronavirus has died within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of a total of 1,273 people in Estonia.

In total, 644,957 individuals in Estonia have been vaccinated against COVID-19

As of this morning, a total of 644,957 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 78,265 individuals have received one dose, and 566,692 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 5,924 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 1,142,572 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least twelve years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.

A total of 304 of those patients have been hospitalised with severe COVID-19 cases, including 211 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 69.4% of the overall figure), and ninety-three patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 30.6% of the overall figure).
