In total, 559 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19
As of the morning of 18 March, hospital treatment is being provided to 559 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 217 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed severe symptoms, including 138 patients or 63.6% of the overall figure who have not been vaccinated, and 79 patients or 36.4% who have been fully vaccinated.
The average hospitalisation rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 1.2 people a day, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 4.7.
Fifty-three new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours; in fifteen of those cases, the patients required hospitalisation due to symptomatic COVID-19. On average within the past ten days, 24.7 new patients each day who exhibit signs of symptomatic COVID-19 infection have been hospitalised. Nine deaths have been added of individuals who were infected by COVID-19, involving a 49 year-old woman, a 59 year-old woman, a 66 year-old woman, a 72 year-old man, a 78 year-old man, an 84 year-old woman, two 90 year-old women, and also a 91 year-old man. Five of those individuals had not been vaccinated.
The last 24 hours have also seen 4,352 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 1,511 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 125, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 135.
A total of 458 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 55 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 439,558 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 63.3% have received two vaccine doses.
