In total, 531 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 17 February, hospital treatment is being provided to 531 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 298 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed severe symptoms, including 197 patients or 66.1% of the overall figure who have not been vaccinated, and one hundred and one patients or 33.9% who have been fully vaccinated.

The average hospitalisation rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 1.8 people per day, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 7.9.

Ninety-six new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours; in 46 cases amongst these, the patients required hospitalisation due to symptomatic COVID-19. On average, 45 new patients each day who exhibit signs of symptomatic COVID-19 infection have been hospitalised within the past ten days. Nine new deaths of individuals who had been infected by COVID-19 have been added, with these involving a 53 year-old woman, a 69 year-old man, a 71 year-old man, a 72 year-old woman, a 77 year-old man, a 79 year-old man, an 84 year-old woman, a 91 year-old man, and also a 96 year-old man. Seven of those individuals had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 10,994 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 6,499 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 314.4, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 491.9.

A total of 1,213 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 110 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 422,585 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 62.8% have received two vaccine doses.
