In total, 433 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 24 March, hospital treatment is being provided to 433 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 181 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed severe symptoms, including 107 patients or 59% of the overall figure who have not been vaccinated, and 74 patients or 41% who have been fully vaccinated.

The average hospitalisation rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country’s vaccinated population is 1.2 people a day, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 3.3.

Forty-nine new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours; in 23 of those cases, the patients required hospitalisation due to symptomatic COVID-19. On average within the past ten days, 23.7 new patients each day who exhibit signs of symptomatic COVID-19 infection have been hospitalised. Five deaths have been added of individuals who were infected by COVID-19, involving an 83 year-old man, two 85 year-old men, an 88 year-old man, and also a 95 year-old man. Three of those individuals had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 4,019 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 1,449 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country’s vaccinated population is 96, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 106.

A total of 514 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 70 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 441,753 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 63.3% have received two vaccine doses.
