In total, 313 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 21 October, hospital treatment is being provided to 441 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 313 patients with COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment due to serious COVID-19 cases, including 209 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 66.0% of the overall figure), and 104 patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 33.0% of the overall figure).

Seventy-six new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. Six new deaths have been registered within the same period of time, involving a 74 year-old woman, a 76 year-old woman, an 83 year-old man, and 86 year-old woman, a 90 year-old woman, and a 93 year-old woman. Five of those individuals had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 8,804 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 1,506 were positive. In total, 974 of the new cases were unvaccinated, while 532 infected individuals had completed the vaccination process. 

A total of 2,461 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, and 1,407,092 vaccine doses have been administered overall. Of the total population in Estonia, 55.0% are fully vaccinated.
