In total, 274 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 13 December, hospital treatment is being provided to 274 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 181 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed serious symptoms, including 155 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 85.6% of the overall figure), and twenty-six patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 14.4% of the overall figure).

Fifteen new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. Thirteen new deaths have been registered within the same period of time, involving a 55 year-old man, a 61 year-old woman, a 68 year-old woman, a 69 year-old man and a 69 year-old woman, a 73 year-old woman, a 77 year-old woman, a 78 year-old man, an 84 year-old man and an 84 year-old woman, an 86 year-old man, a 91 year-old woman, and a 93 year-old woman. Eleven of those individuals had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 3,998 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 317 were positive. In total, 196 of the new cases were unvaccinated, while 121 infected individuals had completed the vaccination process.

A total of 1,101 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 165 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 221,021 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 60.3% are fully vaccinated.

Twenty-six individuals who have tested positive for coronavirus and who are suspected to have been infected with the Omicron variant have been identified in Estonia based on genotyping procedures. Six of those have been confirmed as Omicron cases through sequencing procedures. The majority of these cases are connected to journeys from the republic of South Africa.

Monday morning’s COVID-19 report is able to state that a total of ninety-seven individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19. Hospitals opened eighty new COVID-19 cases last week. The percentage of positive test results out of all tests increased by almost 15%.
