In total, 238 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of today, the daily positive rate will be included in each day’s press release as a ratio between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals for every 100,000 people out of the country’s total population (this being the seven-day moving average). As of the morning of 4 January, hospital treatment is being provided to 238 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 158 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed serious symptoms, including 128 patients who have not been vaccinated (which covers 81% of the overall figure), and thirty patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 19% of the overall figure).

Thirty-one new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. One new death has been added within the same period which involves an 83-year-old woman. This individual had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 10,040 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 1,497 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country’s vaccinated population is 62.7, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 92.6. 

A total of 3,670 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 485 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 294,862 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 61.5% are fully vaccinated.

Monday morning’s COVID-19 report is able to state that a total of ninety-seven individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19. Hospitals opened eighty new COVID-19 cases last week. The percentage of positive test results out of all tests increased by almost 15%.
