In total, 234 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 29 December, hospital treatment is being provided to 234 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 168 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed serious symptoms, including 140 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 83.3% of the overall figure), and twenty-eight patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 16.7% of the overall figure).

Thirty-five new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. Four new deaths have been added within the same period, including a 79 year-old man, an 80 year-old man, an 85 year-old man, and an 88 year-old woman.

The last 24 hours have also seen 7,297 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 880 were positive. In total, 489 of the new cases were unvaccinated, while 391 infected individuals had completed the vaccination process.

A total of 7,544 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 809 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 282,296 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 61.3% are fully vaccinated.

In total, 2,392 individuals who have tested positive for coronavirus and who are suspected to have been infected with the Omicron variant have been identified in Estonia based on genotyping procedures.

Monday morning’s COVID-19 report is able to state that a total of ninety-seven individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19. Hospitals opened eighty new COVID-19 cases last week. The percentage of positive test results out of all tests increased by almost 15%.
