In total, 220 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 22 December, hospital treatment is being provided to 220 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 168 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed serious symptoms, including 135 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 80.4% of the overall figure), and thirty-three patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 19.6% of the overall figure).

Twenty-eight new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. Two new deaths have been added within the same period, including an 81 year-old man and an 82 year-old man. Neither of those individuals had been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 7,219 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 725 were positive. In total, 398 of the new cases were unvaccinated, while 327 infected individuals had completed the vaccination process.

A total of 8,277 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 727 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 261,512 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 61.0% are fully vaccinated.

In total, 656 individuals who have tested positive for coronavirus and who are suspected to have been infected with the Omicron variant have been identified in Estonia based on genotyping procedures.

Monday morning’s COVID-19 report is able to state that a total of ninety-seven individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19. Hospitals opened eighty new COVID-19 cases last week. The percentage of positive test results out of all tests increased by almost 15%.
