PCR testing reminder

❖ If you have any symptoms of coronavirus and you would like to be issued with a European Union digital certificate to show that you have recovered from the virus, you must take a PCR test.

❖ Certificates with QR codes cannot be generated by basing them on a positive rapid test result or on a physician’s diagnosis which is based upon potential infection within the family circle.

Family physicians will refer the following patients who are showing acute symptoms for PCR testing:

✅ individuals who have taken a SARS-CoV2 rapid antigen test at home or at a healthcare institution and who have received a negative result

✅ individuals who have not or cannot take a rapid test

✅ individuals who have not had any close contact with persons who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past seven days

✅ individuals who require a European Union recovery certificate (the EU digital certificate).

A PCR test is not recommended in the following cases:

❌ the patient has taken a rapid antigen test and the result was positive

❌ the person has come into contact with an individual who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and has themselves developed symptoms of the virus

❌ the person has a valid EU certificate.

Such individuals are treated as having been infected with the virus and will be classed as being COVID-19-positive without there needing to be any confirmation in their medical history regarding laboratory testing . If the individual concerned requires an EU digital recovery certificate, they must be allowed to take a PCR test.
