As of Monday morning, a total of 176 COVID-19 patients have required hospitalisation
Monday morning saw a grand total of 176 COVID-19 patients who required hospitalisation. An overall figure of 160 new cases of COVID-19 were registered last week by hospitals.
Olga Sadikova, chief specialist of the Health Board’s Influenza Centre, said that 3,370 cases were added last week, of which 1,188 were laboratory-confirmed and 2,182 had been clinically diagnosed. ‘Compared to the figures for last week, the number of new cases has increased by 10%. The number of positive test results showed the greatest level of increase amongst infants (up to four years of age),’ Sadvikova explained. The infection ‘R’ rate is at 1.08 nationwide. According to the hospitalisation risk matrix, the risk of coronavirus transmission is at the average level.
As of Monday morning a total of 176 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, of which four require intensive care. In total, 160 patients were hospitalised over the week, including fifty-nine patients who were hospitalised with symptomatic COVID-19. The average number of hospitalisations due to COVID-19 in the last seven days has grown from 6.1 to 7.9. During the week, fourteen deaths were added of individuals who were aged between 59 and 91. All of those individuals had serious underlying diseases.
During the week a total of 5,872 vaccine doses were administered, of which 157 were new vaccinations. A grand total of 480,297 people have received an additional or booster dose. Coverage of the entire Estonian population with two vaccine doses is at 63.6%.

In week fifteen, a total of 3,184 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections, of whom 38.4% were children. The overall incidence of acute respiratory viral diseases increased by 39%.
A total of 151 new influenza cases and 1,466 COVID-19 cases have been added this week
In week fourteen, a grand total of 2,297 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections. Overall, 36.4% of all of the new cases involved children. The number of new cases decreased by a third.
