COVID-19 blog, April 30:  23 positive cases added over previous 24h

Over last 24 hours, 1,563 SARS-CoV-2 virus tests causing COVID-19 were analysed, of which 23, i.e. 1.5% came back positive.

Based on Population Register data, Pärnu County had 16, Harju County 3, Tartu County 3, and Järva County 1 new case of the coronavirus.

As of the morning of April 30, 75 people require hospitalisation due to the coronavirus, nine of them require ventilation. 249 people have been discharged, 10 of them were discharged during the previous 24h.

Two residents of Pärnu Tammiste nursing care home died during the previous 24h due to the coronavirus.  An 82-year old woman who died at Pärnu Hospital, and an 87-year old woman who diet at Tammiste care home had in addition to the coronavirus other co-morbidities aggravating their condition.

Total 52 people have died in Estonia due to the coronavirus.

In total, 52,741 first time tests have been performed in Estonia, of which 1,689 i.e. 3.2% have come back positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. Detailed statistical information of coronavirus testing is available at: www.koroonakaart.ee/en.
 

The spread of the disease is slowing down, most cases have been brought to Estonia from Austria

According to the situation review of the Health Board from yesterday, the spread of the COVID-19 has slowed down in Estonia, currently 12,4 positive cases have been established per 10,000 residents.

According to the epidemiological studies carried out by the Health Board, 118 cases have been introduced to Estonia from 21 countries. The highest number of cases came from Austria (34), followed by Italy with 23 cases, and France with eight cases.

The emergency situation for the restriction of the spread of coronavirus has been established until May 17.  During the emergency situation, 2-by-2 rule will apply in public places, up to two persons may be together, keeping at least 2-metre distance from the others.

All public meetings, cinemas, events in nightclubs, performances, concerts, conferences, and sports events are prohibited. Visiting museums and other exhibitions is also prohibited.

The ban applies to publicly used sports clubs, gyms, saunas, spa´s, swimming pools, water centres, day centres, casinos and slot machines arcades, water pipe cafes, entertainment and leisure facilities and children's playrooms.

Outdoor exercise equipment and open-air museums will open as of May 2, when also outdoor sporting events will be permitted.
