COVID-19 blog, 8 June: eighty-six new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 4,085 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of eighty-six (2.1%) of the initial tests were positive. A full 6,310 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 503,716 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 301,600 individuals have received both doses. A total of 46.6% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where thirty-three further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of twenty-four of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further twenty-five new positive coronavirus test results were added from Ida-Viru County, six from Rapla County, five from Tartu County, four from Võru County, three from Saare County, two each from Jõgeva County and Valga County, and one each from Lääne County, Põlva County, and Pärnu County. No new cases were added from any of the remaining counties. On three occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 106.60, and 2.6% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

As of the morning of 8 June, hospital treatment is being supplied to eighty patients who have COVID-19. Eleven of those patients require intensive care, with six patients on a ventilator. Hospitals opened seven new COVID-19 cases overall.

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is 69. All told, sixty-two of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (76.0% of the overall figure).

No new deaths were registered within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,264 people in Estonia in total.

As of this morning, a total of 503,716 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 202,116 individuals have received one dose, and 301,600 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 6,310 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 768,697 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least sixteen years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.
