COVID-19 blog, 3 June: 105 new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 3,968 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 105 (2.6%) of the initial tests were positive. A full 11,003 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 484,507 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 274,748 individuals have received both doses. A total of 66% of all individuals over the age of seventy have received at least one vaccine dose. In all counties other than Ida-Viru County, over 60% of all individuals over the age of seventy have been vaccinated.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where forty-two further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of thirty-two of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further fifteen new positive coronavirus test results were added from Ida-Viru County, ten from Pärnu County, eight from Võru County, and five each from Rapla County, Tartu County, and Viljandi County. Another two new cases each were added from Jõgeva County and Lääne County, and one each from Hiiu County, Järva County, Lääne-Viru County, and Valga County. No new cases were added from Põlva County or Saare County. On seven occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 137.40, and 3.2% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

A total of seven new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and 112 patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 3 June, hospital treatment is being supplied to 112 patients who have COVID-19. Twelve of those patients require intensive care, with seven patients on a ventilator. Hospitals opened seven new COVID-19 cases overall.

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is 66. All told, eighty-two of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (73.0% of the overall figure).

One new coronavirus death was registered within the past 24 hours, involving a 72 year-old man. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,260 people in Estonia in total.

As of this morning, a total of 484,507 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 209,759 individuals have received one dose, and 274,748 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 11,003 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 726,246 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least sixteen years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.

A total of 304 of those patients have been hospitalised with severe COVID-19 cases, including 211 patients who have not been vaccinated (which means 69.4% of the overall figure), and ninety-three patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 30.6% of the overall figure).
