COVID-19 blog, 28 July: 173 new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 3,172 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 173 (5.5%) of the initial tests were positive. A full 6,142 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 627,375 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 552,952 individuals have now received both doses. A total of 56.5% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where seventy-six further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of fifty-nine of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further twenty-five new positive coronavirus test results were added from Pärnu County, eighteen from Tartu County, twelve from Ida-Viru County, and ten from Viljandi County. Another six new cases were added from Rapla County, four each from Lääne County and Järva County, three from Võru County, two each from Jõgeva County and Saare County, and one case each from Lääne-Viru County and Põlva County. No new cases were added from any of the remaining counties. On nine occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 96.00, and 3.2% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Two new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and thirty-five patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 28 July, hospital treatment is being supplied to thirty-five patients who have COVID-19. Three patients require intensive care, and two of those patients have been placed on a ventilator.

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is fifty-nine. All told, eighteen of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (51.0% of the overall figure).

No new deaths were registered within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,271 people in Estonia in total.

As of this morning, a total of 627,375 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 74,423 individuals have received one dose, and 552,952 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 6,142 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 1,115,013 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least twelve years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.

In week fourteen, a grand total of 2,297 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections. Overall, 36.4% of all of the new cases involved children. The number of new cases decreased by a third.
