COVID-19 blog, 21 June: twelve new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 2,167 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of twelve (0.6%) of the initial tests were positive. A full 4,096 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 544,309 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 398,679 individuals have received both doses. A total of 50.1% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where five further individuals were found to have been infected. All of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further four new positive coronavirus test results were added from Ida-Viru County and one from Lääne-Viru County. No new cases were added from any of the remaining counties. On two occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 49.80, and 1.3% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Five new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and fifty-five patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 21 June, hospital treatment is being supplied to fifty-five patients who have COVID-19. Five of those patients require intensive care, with three patients on a ventilator. Hospitals opened five new COVID-19 cases overall.

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is 65. All told, thirty-six of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (65.5% of the overall figure).

No new deaths were registered within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,268 people in Estonia in total.

In total, 544,309 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia

As of this morning, a total of 544,309 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 145,612 individuals have received one dose, and 398,697 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 4,096 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 899,980 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least twelve years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.

A full 7,753 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 612,683 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 538,011 individuals have now received both doses. A total of 55.4% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.
