COVID-19 blog, 13 August: 282 new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 7,888 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 282 (3.6%) of the initial tests were positive. In total, 222 of the new cases were unvaccinated (amounting to 78.7% of all new cases). Sixty infected individuals (amounting to 21.3% of the overall figure) had completed the vaccination process.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where 115 further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of seventy-six of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further forty-six new positive coronavirus test results were added from Tartu County, twenty-six from Pärnu County, twelve each from Rapla County, Võru County, and Lääne-Viru County, eight from Põlva County, and seven from Järva County. Another six new cases each were added from Valga County, Lääne County, and Ida-Viru County, five from Saare County, and three each from Jõgeva County and Viljandi County. No new cases were added from Hiiu County. On fifteen occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 241.90, and 4.9% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Eight new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and sixty-seven patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 13 August, hospital treatment is being supplied to sixty-seven patients who have COVID-19. Six patients require intensive care, and four patients have been placed on a ventilator. Fifty-eight of those patients who are being treated in hospital have not been vaccinated (with fifty-six of those individuals requiring treatment for symptomatic COVID-19), which means that 86.6% of all individuals who are being treated in hospital are unvaccinated.

In total, 6.8% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is sixty-two. All told, thirty-nine of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (58.2% of the overall figure).

No new deaths were registered within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of a total of 1,279 people in Estonia.

In total, 683,042 individuals in Estonia have been vaccinated against COVID-19

As of this morning, a total of 683,042 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 91,813 individuals have received one dose, and 591,229 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 5,713 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 1,195,852 vaccine doses have been administered overall. In total, 60.8% of all adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least twelve years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.
