COVID-19 blog, 10 August: 290 new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 7,761 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 290 (3.7%) of the initial tests were positive. In total, 217 of the new cases were unvaccinated (amounting to 74.8% of all new cases). Thirteen of those individuals who were infected had received only one dose of the vaccine, while sixty infected individuals (amounting to 20.7% of the overall figure) had completed the vaccination process.

A full 5,530 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 671,113 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 582,886 individuals have now received both doses. A total of 59.8% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where 128 further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of eighty-seven of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further thirty-six new positive coronavirus test results were added from Tartu County, twenty-eight from Pärnu County, and twelve each from Jõgeva County, Viljandi County, Võru County, and Ida-Viru County. Another nine new cases were added from Rapla County, eight from Valga County, seven from Lääne-Viru County, five from Järva County, four each from Põlva County and Saare County, two from Lääne County, and one from Jõgeva County. No new cases were added from Hiiu County. On eleven occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 210.60, and 5.1% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Ten new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and sixty-three patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 10 August, hospital treatment is being supplied to sixty-three patients who have COVID-19. Six patients require intensive care, and two patients have been placed on a ventilator. Fifty-nine of those patients who are being treated in hospital have not been vaccinated (with fifty-six of those individuals requiring treatment for symptomatic COVID-19).

In total, 6.8% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is sixty-one. All told, thirty-seven of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (58.7% of the overall figure).

No new deaths were registered within the past 24 hours. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of a total of 1,277 people in Estonia.

In total, 671,113 individuals in Estonia have been vaccinated against COVID-19

As of this morning, a total of 671,113 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 88,227 individuals have received one dose, and 582,886 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 5,530 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 1,178,273 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least twelve years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.
